Hotel/Motel on Long Island convenient to JFK or LaG

I have to make a quick one night visit to Long Island and I will be flying late at night into JFK most likely...but maybe LaG.
Then I need to be driving out to Long Island...in the direction of East Meadow.
I know the airport hotels are very dismal and very expensive.

Can anyone suggest a hotel/motel within 1/2 drive of these airports in the direction of Long Island that is clean, safe, reasonably priced, and...if possible....pleasant.

Thanks.

The Wyndham Garden near LaG, while not up to the usual Wyndham standard has comfortable and decent rooms. Stayed there about a year ago. I do not know the price since I was on a voucher.

Thanks for this information.

I got a recommendation for the Red Roof Inn in Westbury where I made a reservation.

Thanks again.

My feeling is that your best bet is to go to Priceline, and bid for a 3* hotel at either JFK or LGA.

The Hilton Garden Inn in Westbury looks like a much nicer hotel and gets better reviews on tripadvisor.

Have you considered flying into Long Island's MacArthur airport? (ISP) It's a bit further from East Meadow than the others, but a lot simpler, esp. if you're in a Southwest destination, much less chance of delays, probably cheaper car rentals and there's a newish La Quinta right near the airport.

Red Roof is fine for no frills.Check out a restaurant called City Cellar.nice selection of wines by the glass and the food is very good for this type of restaurant.
Marriot Uniondale would be another good choice.
