Hotel to splurge on in Hawaii
If I wanted to splurge and go all out for a 3 night stay, which resort do you feel is the "ULTIMATE" (The kind of place you can stay forever....the kind of place you say to yourself, wow, this place is really incredible)
Budget for the splurge up to $350 per night.
The splurge can be on either Maui, Oahu or Kauai but must be on the most beautiful beach.
Thanks all.

What time of year? Do you plan on swimming at the beach or maybe snorkeling? Winter months may preclude you from doing it at the most beautiful beach.
I hate to say it, but I don't think $350 is alot of money from my research and recent stay at hotels that were cheap and others that I got for a great deal at about $300.

Well, $350 may not be enough, but for splurge hotels I'd choose Halekulani on Oahu and Four Seasons on Big Island. Those would be the two I'd pick in Hawaii.
Don't really have a strong feeling on Maui and Kauai. I'd probably go back to the Maui Prince, because I enjoyed the beach so much and the hotel was so different from any other I'd stayed in.

Hotels in Hawaii are very expensive and are getting more so every year. $350 is not considered a lot of money for a hotel in Hawaii these days.
Why are you not considering the Big Island? Two possibilties exist there. The Hapuna Prince has partial ocean view rooms for around $300 and the Mauna Kea has mountain view rooms for around $350. Both hotels are on gorgeous beaches.
Good luck.

When I read the first part of your post I immediately though Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island and then I read the $350 limit and so there goes the splurge. $350 in HI is not a big splurge but you can stay somewhere nice. I'd try to stay in a garden or mountain view room at the Kauai Hyatt.

I agree.
do some research, find some hotels you can afford, then ask again.
There are so many "deals", etc., out there, it's hard to know what might be $300 or $400...

We have stayed at the Hyatt Kauai this past week for $359/night. We got upgraded from garden view to full ocean view on arrival. We are leaving tomorrow, and this hotel has been amazing! It is on Shipwreck Beach, which isn't really swimmable, but quite wild and beautiful. My other suggestions would be the Sheraton Maui or the Hapuna Beach Prince Resort on the Big Island.

If I was going to splurge on a resort, I would chose the Kona Village Resort on Hawaii, or the Hotel Hana Maui on Maui. Both are considerably over $350 a night. Other posters are correct- $350 a night is not an expensive hotel- about mid-range for a 4-5 star. I'm not a big fan of the Hyatt Kauai. Full of honeymooners, conventions, weddings (a loud party everynight on the lawn under your window). And the beach is just not swimmable. The pools are fancy, but they're just pools. If you want a beautiful beach, the beach at the Maui Prince Hotelon south Maui is wonderful. No other hotel on the beach. The Hapuna Prince is also on a wonderful beach, but it is a bit less intimate than the Maui Prince. Too bad you can't afford one of the oceanfront suites. That is just the ultimate! If I won the lottery, I'd probably stay at the Hapuna Prince bungalow. 8,000 square feet- your own pool. I have no idea how much it is, but it is just incredible.

I stayed at the Hapuna. While I thought it was a nice hotel I did not think the beach was anything wonderful. You can do better on other islands. Beaches are not that great on the Big Island...Also, if you join their preferred members club via Prince hotels you get better rates..
