HOTEL on/near Wilshire Blvd. Westwood , LA

Can anyone recommend a good value hotel, mid price point, in the Westwood section of LA? Wilshire Blvd..... We need to be relatively close to that area for business, but would like to act like tourists for a couple of days and see LA. Is there reliable public transportation or should we rent a car at the airport? Thank you! Mrs. G

"Can anyone recommend a good value hotel, mid price point, . . . "

"Mid price" and "value" means lost of different things to different people. What is your budget?

Bonaventure is in downtown L.A. Nowhere near the Big Blue Bus and nowhere near Westwood. It is, however, in the same city.

There's only one or two hotels on Wilshire in Westwood. The one that comes to mind is the Kimpton hotel, the Palomar. Don't know what it's like these days, but it's had different names over the years -- the first or second of which was a Holiday Inn. But obviously remodeled.

We have transportation. Reliable is another story -- anywhere from a romantic comedy to a horror story.

Other places in Westwood (in the Village itself) are the W on Hilgard; the Royal Palace; and Hilgard House.

Rent a car! LA is not known for public transportation. I used to stay at a funky place called the Del Capri but it's gone. The W is in a good location but I guess pricey. I used to stay there when it was something else. (Westwood Marquis I think).

Hyatt Century Plaza, not in Westwood, but close enough. Just in back of the Westfield Century City Mall. Please rent a car, you'll get a lot more done.
