I am sorry to not be able to help you but know hospitals often have lists of nearby hotels for their patients and sometimes will have negotiated a discount. I would recommend calling the hospital's admitting department to see if they have any such arrangement.

It's a lousy area with slim-to-none choices in lodging. I would stay out near the Grove/Farmers Market which would give you a few miles drive to USC but a more pleasant stay. (lots of traffic from 7 to 9am and 5 to 7pm however).

Park PLaza Lodge is a good budget choice (check on wifi, not sure) and there is the Farmers Daughter Hotel as well. Also Wilshire Crest would be a good spot.

Downtown LA has plenty of hotels, depending on your budget, and is a short drive from USC.

There is clearly some confusion about where you are going. I believe your destination is the LAC-USC Medical center in the Boyle Heights area of East LA, address 1200 N. State St. If so, the Grove/Farmer's market area is unnecessarily far away. Much better to find something in downtown LA, as azzure suggested. Here's a list of hotels near the LAC-USC location.
