Hotel near Miami airport

The wife and I will be flying in and out of Miami International for the Orange Bowl. We have a place to stay with friends while there, but the problem is that we get in at midnight, and leave at 6:00 AM, (Priceline) not on the same day, of course. We'd like to stay the first and last nights near the airport, for convenience. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but no flea and roach traps either.

Anyone out there able to offer suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

There is every flavor of hotel at Miami Airport.Hilton/HolidayInn/Marriott/Courtyard/FairfieldInn/etc etc etc.Whatevere your pleasure, unless you run into the game crowds then you might have a problem. There also may be some hotels around there that impose a minimum night stay for example a 3 night minimum. So depending on your arrival date and departure dates.

Visit biddingfortravel.com and then Priceline to get a hotel. The OB might be a problem, but it really depends on your dates. Avoid the hotel right in the airport as it is overpriced and run down.

Steve,

In addition to what the other posters have said, if you must stay in the airport area, I'd suggest staying on the south side of airport. There are many hotels on Le Juene (42nd Ave), which is east of the airport, but that area is probably one of the most congested areas. Plus it's not all that great of an area. Another option is staying on Miracle Mile in the heart of Coral Gables. You would be closer to OB and the area is much nicer. Plus, consider asking your friends, they may have a good suggestion as well.

I think it is a Marriot connected to the airport.

The hotel attached to the airport is a real dump!! Trust me on this.

There is a large Marriot very close as well as a Hilton and I have stayed at both, which are nice -- the Hilton probably being a little nicer. You can often get rates there as good as the "cheaper" chains mentioned above. And they will offer free shuttle service, while some of the others may not.

Just returned from a trip to Cuba. Because of flight schedules, we spent a night in Miami before flying home the next day. Stayed at the Wyndham for $35.00 via PriceLine. Nice hotel for the price.
