Hotel in/near Miami in October?

My husband might be taking a class in Miami from October 5-9. I am thinking about going with him. We can use frequent flier miles for our flights, but I'd like to find a nice hotel on the beach with a nice pool for me while he is in class. We need to get a really good deal, as my husband is laid off right now; the class would be something that could help him with future opportunities.

When he's gone to Miami for business, he's always stayed in town, but if I go with him, I'd like to stay at more of a "resort" place. But again, we need to get a really good deal (it would need to be under $200 per night, at least).

Any ideas? Thanks!

Miami Beach
Priceline.com name your own price
(checkout biddingfortravel.com) for help on how to bid on hotels.

btw, October is a slow month down here so I would also check regular sources for hotel bookings.

Good luck!

Try www.travelzoo.com as your dates get closer and also Spirit Airlines has a tab that had deals (not air travel deals). I have seen some great prices there. You should have no problem staying well under $200 in October.

I found the Marriott Courtyard Miami Beach Oceanfront for $129, and it looks pretty good, plus we'd be getting Marriott points. Will keep looking for others, too, though. Thanks for the help!

Guess what? I used Priceline, and was able to get the Renaissance Hotel Eden for $100 per night. Their website showed $239 per night for those nights. So -- good deal!!

If you can make a decision and book quickly, there is a good deal off travelzoo for a suite at the Sagamore in South Beach for $149.It says you have to book by Aug. 28 and the deal is for weeknights in October. Here is the link:
http://hotels.travelzoo.com/florida-hotels/635895

There are other good deals from Hotelscombined:
http://www.hotelscombined.com/City/Miami_Beach.htm

I just had a great "staycation" at the Strand South Beach this past weekend and got a 1 bedroom suite for $130/night. it's a cute hotel in 4 renovated buildings right on Ocean Drive. Relaxing pool deck with a little pool on of one of the buildings. It's very lively on that part of South Beach and the hotel might not be for you, but we had a very nice time. Here is a search for your days:

The Eden Roc is a great hotel and that price can't be beat.

The Sagamore is in a great location but I'm not a fan of that hotel at all.

Have a great time, Miami is a fabulous place.

Let me give you some unrelated advice.

The rainy season may not be over by then.

Get in your pool stuff as early as you can before the rain comes in.

The first part of today was absolutely beautiful here. Then around 3PM the big clouds came by our place and it's still raining. Yesterday we had dinner with some friends on Las Olas in Ft Laudedale and it poured most of the day until about 9PM. We walked around after dinner and there were very few people out.

A hotel I just love is the Fontainebleau, but it is quite pricy if you do not find a private rental for one off their apartments in the classifieds try for example
http://www.americanlisted.com/florid...?city_id=10544

Option is also to get a normal apartment, might be cheapest option – always possible to pay for get to the pool at some of the hotels
