Hotel for Ravinia
We will be seeing a concert at Ravinia in late August. I need to get a hotel room close to the METRA, as we plan to take this train to the concert based on recomendations from those on this board. Does anyone have any ideas for a hotel? Thanks!

Where do you want to stay, in Chicago? Suburbs? Wisconsin?
What types of amenities do you want and what's your budget?
Will you be doing anything else while you're here that you'd want to be near?
How are you arriving? Do you also need something that's accessible to the Orange Line from Midway or Blue Line from O'Hare?
Metra is the entire system of commuter trains (separate from the CTA's L) that operate between Chicago and the suburbs. For Ravinia, you'd take the Union Pacific North line which runs from downtown Chicago to Kenosha.
There are several hotels in Highland Park, Deerfield or Northbrook which are very close to Ravinia. You could also stay in Evanston which is about mid-way between Chicago and Highland Park. If you'll be doing other sightseeing while you're here, almost any hotel in downtown Chicago would be fine. The UP-N leaves from Ogilvie Station at 500 W Madison.

We will be driving in from Minnesota on Saturday morning and the concert is Sat night. We will have to drive back home on Sunday so not a lot of sightseeing time. If we stay in a suburb close to Ravinia, can we still get the train because we really don't want to deal with parking at the concert?
Thanks!
I will check out the Hilton Garden Inn in Evanston.

Seems like Evanston, which has three Metra stops for the train to Ravinia, would be your best choice. I think there is a newish Hilton Garden Inn in dowtown Evanston, which would be good for parking. Evanston itself would be good for shopping, dining and sightseeing, but your time sounds very limited.

There's also a Courtyard on Lake Cook Road in Highland Park and a Renaissance Hotel on Skokie Blvd. Both are within a couple miles of Ravinia and may offer shuttle service to the park. There's no mention on their websites but you could give them a call and see. Northbrook Court and a couple other malls are nearby which would give you several dining options.
