Do you have a nightly budget for each room?

Last April I went with 5 other friends & we stayed at Ballys right across from the Bellagio fountains. The rooms were huge and clean but the decor is super dated. To give you an idea, the TVs are still the big block with convex screens. We didn't spend any time in the rooms. Too much to do & see.

Bally's or Paris - or Planet Hollywood (all in a row) would be nice - but if you want a great pool area - consider Bellagio - or up the strip a bit - the newer Wynn/Encore is also great (which yes, will cost a bit more but check on what deals they are offering).

And the Venetian and it's newer addition - the Palazzo (up by Wynn) - are also top drawer.

Love the coffee shop at Bellagio - and you have the incredible fountains and the Arboretum (not to mention the largest chocolate fountain in the world at the Patisserie) - and you can take the free monorail to Aria/City Center - in the huge complex next door - and on down to Monte Carlo - next to NY NY and the MGM is across the street. http://www.vegas.com/transportation/monorails.html

As for suites - the Rio is off strip - and has bigger rooms/suites - and they have a shuttle bus back to the center section of the strip - where the above resorts (Bellagio/Bally's etc) are located.

We stayed in the Signature suites at the MGM last week. Ridiculously cheap (59$) for a beautiful one bedroom with spa bath. You can walk straight through the MGM to the strip.

We are at The Signature right now and it is really nice. We have a balcony looking towards the Strip. As nice as it is, if you want action right out your room door, this isn't the place for you. There is no casino, relatively no places to eat "right" here but it is NON-smoking and for us, the quiet Ian's smoke free is top feature. As Kwaussie said, it is easy to walk to MGM Grand via connected hallways.

Smartvegas.com has some good deals. Sign up and get to see the unlisted deals. Also keep checking back after you make a reservation, prices dropped every day during the week we were to arrive, by 20% . Best rate ended up at 48 hours before check in.

We were able to check in at 10am. They have adjoining rooms. We also got A very high floor in Tower 3
With a view just by asking.

Keep on mind most places have a resort fee of approx. $25 a day. Make sure to figure that into the price.

Trip advisor has a Very active Las Vegas board, I got lots of great info there.

Oh, if you are wanting a nice a, spent the afternoon at Qua, at Caesar's Palace.

Another "suite" - really 1 and 2 BR condo units - is at the Polo Towers - located across from City Center/Aria - and we have stayed there numerous times - both exchanging as a time share or on 2 and 3 night packages. https://www.diamondresorts.com/Polo-Towers-Suites

They have a nice rooftop pool - not real big - but with Cabanas (first come first serve - no charge) and it also has a nice view. Not nearly as plush/large as say the Bellagio - but nice - and it might work if you got 2 - 2 BR units? Whatever?

if we are there for a week - we also BBQ once or twice - on the grills located on the roof.

A couple of weeks in October are notoriously very pricey in Las Vegas due to mega-conventions in town. Are you flexible with your weekends or do you have the date planned?

We're thinking about the weekend of October 11-13. Do you know if there are big conventions in town then? How would I find out...we may be able to be flexible.

When I was researching our trip I came across this on the Paris website. It is a comparison of all the Caesars casinos. When you open it go to the heading Shopping Tool and click on All Casino Calendar. Then look for October and you can see at a glance which are the busy weekends according to the prices displayed. There are 9 "Caesar" casinos listed. If you are flexible with your stay you may find delaying by a week could save you money. You can see how much cheaper it is to stay midweek. Have a look at it before you start looking at prices elsewhere. It may save you research time if you know which week is a cheaper week. We were there at the end of October and weather was great but as said earlier, October can be expensive.

Prices vary depending on the size of the convention that is in town - and how full the Resorts think they will be - and and weekends are also more expensive than during the week.

But go when you can go - and you have enough time to check ahead and see what the prices are for the different places where you might want to stay. The more homework you do - the better deal(s) you will find.

If you are only there for a long weekend - I would want to be Center Strip - or close enough - or have easy access to it, unless you have a designated driver for a car - assuming you rent one.

That again is an advantage of staying center strip - you don't necessarily need a car.

Here is the convention schedule for the weekend of Oct 10th - 13th, 2013. I don't see any real big conventions scheduled - and you should be fine - but check directly with the various resorts to see what they can offer.
