Hotel during Concours d´Elegance August 2013

Has anybody been in Carmel during the Concours d´Elegance and can recommend a hotel? DH is a big classic car buff and will celebrate his 65th birthday next year so I am willing to spend a fortune

Thank you
Elaine

There was a post in here some time ago about Hotel prices during that big show week.

In essense, get ready to further open your wallet as the Hotels/resorts jack up the rates pretty much everywhere within a relatively easy drive.

The previous thread was about where to stay on a moderate budget. The OP indicated she's willing to spend a fortune so no need to stay as far away as some of the suggestions in that thread.

I'd base your location on the events you'd like to attend but I'm thinking the Carmel/Pebble Beach areas would be most convenient. I have no specific hotel recommendations as we stay in rental houses.

What exactly do you mean by a 'fortune'? They will all charge their highest rates of the year during that week/weekend. There are many nice places in Carmel/Pebble Beach/Pacific Grove and a few are truly eye watering-ly expensive. (and if you lump in Big Sur-- VERY expensive.)

I don't mind up to $800 per night.
