Hotel Construction- Maui & Kauai

I've heard of some hotels being under construction through the fall of '03. We'll be going on a honeymoon end of Oct '03. Has anyone heard this?

Ahhh yes. The resident expert here on Hawaii can enlighten you. A new Westin is being built in the Kaanapali area. Large U shaped building. Ocean front. This is new construction.

Were you asking about new construction or renovation?

You're welcome.

Sidney - Do you happen to know if the Hyatt or Sheraton plan on doing any construction in October of this year? Can't decide which one we'll be booking, this info may decide for us. thanks in advance!

The Construction of the Westin is not located on the Kaanapali Beach that stretches between the Hyatt and the Sheraton it's actually north of Black Rock so anyone staying along what is traditionally known as Kaanapali Beach will not be affected.

The Maui Marriott is beginning to convert more of their hotel into timeshares. Half of it is already timeshares. We were there in Nov and they were doing some things which I didn't see or hear but the chemical smell was strong so it's not alwayas the noise!

The Hyatt had construction going on at their pool to create a kid area but they should be wrapping it up unless they are already finished.

The Sheraton went through a major remodel in the 90s and is probably not going to need any more for awhile.

On Kauai the construction of the new Marriott where the Wai'ohai stood before Iniki took it out has been going on and will continue until sometime next year. It is located adjacent to Kiahuna Plantation. You will find lots of recommendations for this condo place so I don't know how bad the construction noise is.

I am also planning a honeymoon in Maui for Oct 03. We are staying at the Four Seasons and heard that construction is still on-going. Has anybody recently been there to give me a construction update?
