Hotel chains noted for their good mattresses in NC or SC

This may sound strange but after driving 11 hours we really want a good night's sleep before continuing our next 10 hours of driving. We will be going from Florida to NJ along I 95. Any suggestions?

Marriott's have their Heavenly Bed which is nice.

We just stayed at a rennovated Radisson that had sleep number bed and I liked it.

Omni Hotels have nice mattresses too.

Not sure if any are on your route, but these will give you sweet dreams and good night's rest.

It's actually the Westin with the Heavenly Bed, though the Marriott beds may be nice too! Doesn't look like there are any Westins along I-95. Raleigh does have some Sheratons which have a bed with a fancy name, but I haven't slept on one.

I95exitguide.com is a good overview of what in way of lodging and food is available along your route.

That said, having driven thru NC and SC to/from kids' colleges (from Boston) let me warn you that finding a hotel that is not scarey and sketchy is a challenge along much of that route - I have driven it alone a couple of times and stayed at some name-brand hotels in which I considered barricading the door. There is not much right off I95 along that route - and they are certainly not upscale enough properties to have extra special bedding.

And don't get me started on finding something to eat other than Waffle House, Dennys, or the Golden Arches. Rocky Mount, NC area is the least awful area I have found - but still not upscale.

You are right, gail. I95 is the main drag from the north to FL and all kinds of people travel that road all night and day. (I've spent WAY too much time on that road.) Best to find something a mile or so off the highway that has a lobby and indoor hallways. I stand by my Hampton rec. No fime dining on I95. However, there are some famous barbeque places in some of those NC towns, should you decide to leave the highway to eat.

Gail and Sue,
It's been a few years since we made this drive so I do appreciate the security issues that you both brought up. Looks like Hampton Inns may be our choice since most of the others are not located near I 95. Thanks again.
