Hotel - Caesars Palace OR Signature @ MGM

We'll be in LV for 2 nights in Jul 15 (2 adults + 2 kids 9,12).

Both Caesars Palace (Roman Tower Room 2 double beds) and Signature @ MGM (Deluxe Suite - King Bed + sleeper sofa) are approx the same price (+- $ 220 p night).
.
Any recommendations for which to go for?

We've never been to Las Vegas so I'm leaning towards the more 'iconic' and famous Caesars, but the reviews of the Signature @ MGM look great.

We stayed at The Signature. We liked it because it was no smoking/no casino. With 2 fairly young kids, I would like that fact. July is going to be stinky hot, so pools would be of interest. There aren't really any restaurants in The Signature, but there are at MGM Grand, next door ( but it's a hike). The Sig are condos, with a small but useful kitchen, so that could be helpful for breakfast, snacks etc., I am not sure, but that seems very high for that time of year.

MGM Signature is beautiful. Your children will love it. Keep checking back for a lower rate.

Does Signature get you entrance to all the MGM pool areas?

Also, MGM is closer to attractions @ Luxor-Mandalay like Shark Reef and the NYNY Rollercoaster....but what do you have planned with the kids?

Yes, you get access to all the MGM pools when you stay at The Signature. Ad each of the 3towers at the Signature have a pool also.

Signature does have room service. And there is a deli called Delights in Tower 2 that is open 7 am til 9 pm daily- breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pastas.

Yes, technically there is, food @The Sig, but we never use room service and the, deli didn't appeal to us. That is why I said they didn't really have restaurants of any note. Certainly not what we look for in Vegas but work to just eat.

If you are considering the Signature, sign up now for MGM's loyalty program MLife and start getting their email offers for specials. You are very likely to get an offer for a reduced price for summer time. We stayed at the Signature last March for $99 a night for 5 nights, Sun-Thurs, for a King 1bedroom suite with separate living rm with sleep sofa and nice balcony. the kitchen with full size appliances came in very handy and the full bathroom was enormous with whirlpool tub, plus half bath in the living area. Service was very good.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, much appreciated. By consensus then it looks like the Signature is the better option!?!

I will also make use of your suggestions regarding signing up to MLife and checking regularly for specials. At this stage I've been largely going on the prices at Booking.com.

I used this to find good deals for Signature.
http://www.smartervegas.com

Sign up for unlisted offers in upper right hand corner.

Also, the Sig had some great Cyber Moday deals in the past. Make a fully refundable/cancelable reservation and keep checking, I was able to lower my rate up until almost the last day for a January stay.

I think Sig is a much better option, esp. with kids. CP is huge and hard to get into and out of. It can take 20 min to get from your room out the door. Sig has indoor climate controlled walkway straight to MGM Grand, a big plus, or walk out the gate to Harmon Ave and one block up to the strip.

Thank you.
I have booked Signature in the interim. Pity about the horrible $60 per night extra fees for kids that Vegas hotels seem to charge, seems excessive!

I forgot about resort fee. They started it at Sig just after we were there. Don't forget that too.

Many Vegas hotels charge for kids since they won;t be spending (not allowed in any of the casinos) and they still use linens and towels - often more than adults - and take up room in the pools.

Remember - Vegas is an adult destination - they want you there to gamble and lose.

the Signature does not charge extra for kids. There is no casino on site at the Signature.

The first word in "Caesars Palace" is plural, not possessive, because it is a place for Caesars. It is the place for Tony Soprano to go and gamble and try peyote with Christapha's hooker. It is the place for Tsar Charles Barkley to go and blow $400,000 at the tables.

CP is a nice place to visit but you don't really need to stay there.

Thank you emd3 & mrwunrfl. I suppose I've sen one too many gangster movies at Caesar's palace to be objective! But, point taken, we have decided on Signature.
emd3 when i try to book on booking.com and add on kids the rate shoots up approx $60 per night. On the MGM website it doesn't allow me to differentiate between adults and children (it asks for number of guests in room) - and then adjusts the rate up.

How would I best book it?

I've stayed at Caesars Palace many times but if you are comparing the Roman Tower to a deluxe suite at Signature, I'd choose Signature. The Roman Tower is an older tower and the rooms won't be spacious like the newer Caesars towers.

And do get on the MLife program and get their emails. You will get a much better rate closer to July from MLife email specials than you are getting from Booking.com now.
