Trying to plan last minute arrangements for family to visit NYC next weekend. Has anyone see any bargains in the City other than the Gild Hall discounted rate on travelzoo? Has anyone here been to the Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel since the renovation was done? Any other new hotels, midtown?
Also, does anyone know what the midtown West secret sale hotels are on quikbook?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry, I can't really help you, but I can say that the weekend before Christmas is typically among the busiest and most expensive in New York's busy tourist high season. If you can find a deal, book it. I can't tell you about the Fitzpatrick Grand Central's renovation, but I can tell you about the convenience of the location and that it's been a favorite mid-range hotel for years. If you find a decent rate, book it.
If you find a rate you can afford at any decent hotel grab it now. the city is mobbed with tourists and agree that this is the most expensive weekend of the year. Don't wait making reservations or you may find the hotels fully booked.
I've been finding rates for next weekend that are 50% LESS than this weekend's rates. I will go ahead and book the Fitzpatrick Grand Central soon if I can't find something more intriguing. I do like the idea of a newly renovated hotel, however. Thanks Doug and nytraveler for your help. It is much appreciated.
www.betterbidding.com Priveline Hotwire yoelds best deals
for me on shprt notice. www.chelsealodge.com more quiet
private for no bid in the past. Good luck!
The secret sale hotels are usually just a queen or king bed. You say "family." How many are you? What exact dates do you need? If you're more than 2, using Hotwire is probably a better idea.
There's a sale price of $161/night on Tripadvisor for the Hilton Fashion District that's good for any size room including a double double but the rate only shows up if you're 2 adults. When I add 2 kids, the rate becomes unavailable. Since they obiovusly have the room, I'd phone about this if it interests you. Offer is here http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60763-d1601249-Reviews-Hilton_New_York_Fashion_District-New_York_City_New_York.html
Thanks, everyone. I'm going to look at the Hyatt at Grand Central too.
I just got an email from Millenium UN Plaza with special offers for holiday season.
The group has decided on Gild Hall as they wanted to be close to Gold Street. Thanks for your help everyone.
