My family is planning our first trip to Yellowstone next Sep. although we have horses I am not sure it would be worth the hassle. I am thinking that a camper makes us more mobile and eliminates a lot of work that the horses would require. We would probably be there for a week. We enjoy hiking, some fishing would be nice. After reading some of the comments about the overpriced accomodations inside the park, it seems that a camper and small tent might be the way to go. any suggestions or comments. thank you.

my parents stayed at the old faithful lodge and it was under $80/nite so that's not very expensive - the trick is you have to book WAY in advance - personally, for yosemite, i think it's better to camp just for the enjoyment of it and i agree, horses would be too much of a hassle and i don't know where you'd keep them but if there's stables at yosemite you can probably rent horses for a ride or two
