Sure it's worth seeing.

It's not difficult to get to (you could easily drive there on your own) but I opted for a tour. On a tour you pick up all sorts of facts and pieces of trivia that you wouldn't learn if you go on your own.

My husband and I were there in July and it was completely worth the trip. We chose to go on our own and did the tour offered on site. While most people can do the whole thing in an hour or so, you would have thought my husband was in his personal heaven! We spent over 2 1/2 hours there. It was 122 degrees. We are still married.
Enjoy your trip!

We were there in August - it was at least 122 degrees then as well (yes, we knew it would be hot before we scheduled trip). Husband and 2 teenagers thought it was interesting. I was a little bored, but that is not my kind of thing anyway. We took the tour. Would have liked to spend more time outside on observations deck, but it was too hot. If I remember, there were places you could get to only if you did tour.

When I say I did the tour I mean both tours: a bus tour from Vegas AND the tour they offer on-site. The on-site tour teaches specifically about the dam but the bus tour provides fun little facts about Vegas, Nevada, the Dam and the whole area. The driver could answer just about anything and since he knew where he was going, I could sit back and relax.

Yes it was worth it. My husband watched the Building of Hoover dam on Dicovery Channel, and he thought it was wonderful. My daughter did the hard hat tour that was offered before 9-11. Wish we could have taken it. Still the tour was worthwhile. Judy

Can anybody tell me the on-site tour at Hoover Dam is that the Discovery Tour?
Does it cost $10 for an adult's admission?

Also has anyone done a self-guided tour that you can download the info from the Hoover Dam's website?

http://www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/service/sgt2a.html

Thks.
