Honolulu GTG?

I'm here! give this a couple of days as we get used to the new format.

Gio..."fun" is an understatement when it comes to the Oahu Gang.

Sounds terrific Kal! I'm not surprised. The people we are fortunate to know on Oahu know how to have a good time. Hope we can make it work.

Giovanna! Where will you be staying and what would you like to do for the GTG? Lemme see if lcuy, Mari808, and some of the Asia Board folks are available. What boards do you normally frequent on Fodors?

Lots in the Lounge recently. U.S. now and then. Originally almost exclusively in Europe when we were going there every year. I look in on Argentina once in a while.

We're staying in a timeshare in the heart of Waikiki on Lewers just above Kuhio. No plans for a GTG really. Just thought it might be something we would enjoy and a chance to meet more Fodorites.

Having met most of you, it would be a fun one!

Realize July is several months away, but don't want this GTG to be forgotten, so thought I'd pull it up again. Any luck contacting people Melissa? Hope we can work this out.

Giovanna, I'm not coming on the boards as often because of the new format (which I hate). I have a feeling many of the others are in the same boat. Can you do me a favor and email me?

Our Honolulu visit is only just over a week away. Doesn't seem possible. It looks as if we are going to have a GTG which I'm looking forward to. We've done a lot of e-mailing back and forth (see above) and plans seem to be shaping up. Not definite yet, but Saturday 7/18 luncheon seems to be best bet. Just posting here in case anyone might be interested in joining us. I'll post again when plans are firm.

We are starting to pencil in this trip and we may try and work in a day on Oahu but since we only have 2 weeks....
Hard not to spend them all on the #ellhole.

Giovanna and her familia were so wonderful. lcuy & mari808 came....we wished you all were with us!

This was a nice relaxed GTG with Giovanna, her husband (55 years married? They really don't look it!), her cousins, mari808, Melissa and me. We all met up at Little Village on Smith Street in downtown Honolulu/edge of Chinatown. The food was great, and we had a lot of fun talking about trips, Bon dances, Fodors, Kal, and life in general.

So did you all get to Kailua, Giovanna? If not, well, next time!!

Kal, what trip of "only two weeks" ?
We'll be on Oahu early October for a few days before Maui

Just got home from a glorious week in Honolulu, made special by the lovely ladies mentioned above. We would share Kal, but there was none left, all too delicious to leave a morsel!

Was wonderful meeting those three wonderful ladies who took part of their Saturday to share with us. We had a wonderful time! Thanks to all of you!!

I can't remember exactly, but were you not going to be able to make it to the annual GTG put on by the Asia board? if not, we'll see if we can get a group togther...mochi noodles again? they are medallions of mochi (sticky rice) stir fried with veggies and pork. Melissa, I've had another birthday recently so I'll blame that for my total lack of recall of any GTG. And as usual entering Hawaii GTG in the search function doesn't bring up any mention of an upcoming one. Where and when is that?

Here is a thought. Not exactly billed as a GTG, but the Asia board mainlanders will meet for drinks at a bar (Indigo, I think is the name) on Tuesday Sept.15. We will probably have kuranosuke, hawaiiantraveler, bradinbangkok, and myself. I'm not sure who else will be there. Indigo is located in China Town. It's a neat bar!! Barack Obama has been there.. I think they have a drink named in his honor???? Can't recall what it is.

That should be "mainlanders will meet with the locals" at a bar....

The actual HNL GTG is on Saturday the 19th. We typically have 15-20 people in attendance. Mostly Asia board. But anyone who happens to be in HNL at that time would be welcome, I'm sure.

There are usually more up to date posts on the Asia boards as the GTG time approaces.

OK, I'll be on Kauai by the 19th, but I'll plan on drinks at Indigo on Tuesday the 15th. (I leave HNL on the 16th). I'll check again for time.

If I remember, I'll post updates to this thread....the posts will probably be on the Asia board, though. Neo, just to warn you....those Asia Board folks are PARTIERS!
