Honeymoon in San Francisco and Napa Valley area

My fiancé and I are planning our Honeymoon for next September. We are planning on flying from Boston to San Francisco on Monday the 22nd and will leave from Reno on October 2nd. We were hoping to spend a few days in San Fran and then go to the Russian River Valley for 3-4 nights, Napa for 2 nights and Tahoe for 2 nights. We have never been here before so we would love some ideas of places to visit and sites to see while we are there. We wouldn't mind doing some hiking or kayaking type activities as well. We consider ourselves foodies, so recommendations for good places to eat would be great! Thanks.

We spent our honeymoon in San Francisco also - but in 1971. We loved the area so much that we moved to SF & the Bay Area permanently (from Laguna Beach) in 1975.

Here are some of my ideas of things to do & see:

Since you are flying out of Reno, consider including Yosemite in your plans. Cut a day from the Russian River area, skip Napa and just drive thru on your way to Yosemite. You could then head east over the spectacular Tioga Pass and head north on 395 to Tahoe. 395 is on the high desert and the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains. So beautiful at that time of year. Finish up in Tahoe.

As foodies you must know that San Francisco and the Bay Area have a dedicated Michelin Red Guide. That would be a place to start for restaurants.
