My fiance and I were planning to go to Italy for our honeymoon in 2 1/2 weeks. We were going to go for 10 days but something has come up and we can only be gone for 4-5 days so now we are thinking of doing something here in the US. Only problem is we don't have much time to plan and aren't sure where to go.
We like to have activites, ie not just sitting out on the beach but would like to relax a little too. Some place with nice restaurants and maybe a few shops and somewhat mild weather.
We are coming from Charleston SC and are willing to travel by plane.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about San Francisco and the wine country?
For mild weather at this time of year look at places in Florida, Texas and Southern California.
Miami offers lots to do as well as access to beaches if you think you need some down time. Same with LA. In Texas check out San Antonio or Dallas - no beaches but plenty of activities.
You don't say what time of year, which makes a big difference weather wise. Regardless, consider:
San Francisco
Carmel/Monterey
San Diego
Tucson
Cabo San Lucas
Cancun
Bahamas
Bermuda
Our wedding is Nov 1st so we'd leave Nov 3rd
We loved Boston - loads to do, great museums, history, good restaurants, shopping. Temps shouldn't be too cold yet.
I stand by my list for early November. All the cities meet your qualifications.
Agree with Stumpworks list and would add
New Orleans
Savannah
Miami
Key West
New Orleans & Key West would be my suggestions as well. Another thought (outside the box) may be to drive up to the Asheville area & rent a cabin. The weather will still be fine & all of your other criteria would be met as well.
It's too bad you live in Charleston, because I think that would be a PERFECT place for a honeymoon! After 25 years of marriage, that's STILL one of our favorite cities for romance!!
Anyway, your requirements are early November, mild weather, activities, relaxing, nice restaurants, and a few shops. Hmmmm....
California's too long of a journey for a relaxing trip of four to five days, and even Texas is a stretch.
I agree that Miami or New Orleans would fit your bill quite nicely. The question is whether you'd want SOME time at the beach; if so, then Miami's your choice. One more advantage -- if Miami makes you feel stifled, then just rent a car and go to either the Everglades or the Keys. Either could make you feel like you've left the city behind.
San Antonio or Las Vegas.
Those are both trips that would be good for 4 or 5 days.
How about a Miami/Key West combo? We loved the Marquesa in Key West.
I vote for San Diego!
If I lived on the East Coast and even if I only had 4-5 days, I go to Paris. How romantic would that be!
Sorry, my computer keys are sticking. If you think you couldn't plan a Paris trip in such a short time, go on over to the Europe board and ask for help. People would love to help you plan a Paris honeymoon.
Another vote for San Diego. It's a great town to vacation in. Lot's to do and see. The weather is perfect. Since it's your honeymoon you could stay at the Del on Coronado Island. Very romantic.
I would probably go to Puerto Rico. It's an easy, nonstop flight. There are lots of nice resorts with beach, pool, spa, golf, casino, etc. Old San Juan is nice to explore.
San Diego or Santa Barbara!
I suggest honeymooning at Secrets Maroma Beach Resort. Fly into Cancun and take a 20-minute shuttle to this wonderful, new all-inclusive, adult-only resort designed for romance. The beach is white sand (no rocks), the pools are beautiful, and the food is delicious. My husband and I just spent our 45th anniversary there and can't wait to go back. There are activities such as Xcaret close by. But you can parasail right there and scuba diving is close also.
