Home and/or Garden Tours in the Southeast

Can anyone recommend specific tours of private homes and/or gardens? I would be particularly interested in ones in the Atlanta area. If I'm not mistaken, most of these take place in the spring when gardens are at their best. I know that some are at Christmas time as well and would be happy to learn of some of these (although, for my taste, beautiful gardens take precedence to lights and baubles).

Also, I am a male and wonder if I will be surrounded by groups of hat and pearl-clad women exclusively. While I normally don't give a darn what others think, I can imagine feeling uncomfortable if I'm the only (lone)gentleman around.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the tours that neighborhood associations and historical societies hold of various private homes of interest.

In the Atlanta area, many neighborhoods have wonderful tours - in the spring and holidays - but also throughout the year. Most focus on the homes, but some gardens as well. Ansley Park, Morningside, Inman Park are some that are in "off" season. Is there a particular time of year you will be back up here?

Madison, GA is wonderful for antebellum homes and they have apring and holiday tours. The next one is a series that starts the first weekend in December.

The Morningside tour of homes is coming up next weekend. One of the nicest in the city.

Thanks, gracieb. I have a cabin near Jasper, and I'll be there on the weekend of Nov. 11 to see the leaves (my first time to do this!) I'll also be back up for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I was wanting to start planning for a spring trip, though, and centering it around a really good tour of homes.

I meant to also say that I've been to Madison, although not for a tour of homes. Really lovely town.

And, one of my favorites in the mountains - Sunday, Dec. 3 - Rabun County Christmas Tour of Homes - they have great food at each home

Hey C - we know each other and actually met. I don't know of anything specific the weekend of Nov. 11th, but will keep my eyes and ears open.

Thanks again gracieb! Great info. The Inman Park one looks like just the thing! I'm looking forward to when I can retire to your area and do all of these every year
