Anyone have info on the HI Express on 29th or the HI Midtown on 57th? Their price is right, but was wondering about the size, service, cleanliness, and location. Also, any info on other hotels under $200 a night?

We stayed at the HI/57th Midtown, 2 1/2 years ago. It was just OK. The room was pretty good size for NYC. But the Hotel has a " old and tattered feel". The toilet was a industrial type that I haven't seen anywhere else except old school-yard or park/public use. It does not rate up with other Holiday Inns. Maybe you would like to check reveiws at TripAdvisor.com.
The HI Express Chelsea is new. It will be very clean. The location is actually very near Penn Station. I noticed you're planning on arriving by train. The HI midtown is imo a better location, nearish central park and the rooms are a decent size but the hotel is "tired." It has a rooftop swimming pool (or did) which is not very usual for NYC.
