Hilton Head weather in April?

We are thinking about going in April during Easter break. Will the weather be warm enough for swimming? Is is overrun with kids during that time? Which hotel would be best for a childless couple....Marriot or Westin?

In April the average air temperature in
HHI is 76, and the average ocean temperature is 67. I don't think that HHI is a big spring break hotspot - Myrtle Beach is.

Unless you are very, very hardy you will not want to swim in April. Generally the water is swim temp from very late May through Sept.

Have you considered the Hilton? The rooms there are huge and the courtyard with its lagoons is nice. It's my favorite. The Westin is also nice, has more of a large resort feel.

I have swam lots in April in Hilton Head before. Maybe not always in the ocean, but the pools can be warm enough depending on the weather. Sometimes we get extreme warm spells early.

Linda,

We were in Hilton Head this year March 31 to April 5 and stayed at the Marriott Grand Ocean resort. There is a heated pool that most of the the children seemed to use more than any other pool.

The weather was nice, but too cold for the ocean. Since you a picking a "spring break" week for many schools, you need to be forewarned that there will be lots of families with children.

I've not been to the Westin, but the Marriott seems to accommodate families, and lots of activities are planned for children.

A word of caution: You need to find out when the MCI World Classic golf tournament is scheduled. The island will be crowded with people going to the golf tournament, and you may experience long waits for dinners at restaurants.

My husband and I love Hilton Head. Since we are empty nesters, we tend to schedule a trip there avoiding the holidays and the MCI tournament.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I'm a teacher, so that is also my break. I guess I am naively thinking the families will be at Disneyworld!!
