Hilton Hawaiian Village or Moana Surfrider?

I'd really appreciate some input on these two properties! My husband and I have visited Hawaii before, but are taking the kids ( two teens) in July. The reviews on tripadvisor ( if you trust those!) are not very good for The Moana- everything from poor AC to lack of places to sit on the beach. But I've also heard that parts of the Hilton are under construction. Which one would you choose? Thanks!!

Forgot to add that we currently have reservations at The Moana. Thanks!

IMO, the better part of the Moana is the "tower" which has oceanfront rooms which are newer.

Those dark hallways in the old part of the hotel can be a little off-putting for some folks.

The Sunday brunch on the veranda/lanai is a must IMO despite the noise.

You'll be more in the center of all the shopping, etc., at the Moana vs the HHV which may or may not be a plus for you.

With a family I'd pick the HHV, because it's more or a "resort" layout with multiple pools, etc.

Because the Moana is an old hotel, the layout there is tighter, more traditional.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! Now I've turned into my dad and I'm obsessing over the hotel choice! A little afraid of The Hilton being Disneyesque and too far from things. Is it?

Depends on your outlook, I guess, yes it might be considered Disney-esque. And yes it's a bit further to walk to central Waikiki. Moana is right in the middle of everything.
