My husband and I will be staying overnight in Greenville, SC in 2 weeks. What are some good restaurants there? We enjoy fine dining and love creative healthy menus with fish and fresh veggies-no fried food, please. Any suggestions?

we walked around during last years food festival and the Lazy Goat was one of my favorites. I have never eaten there though. My co-workers love Sobys. If you plan on dining downtown on a weekend night, reservations are recommended, because there can be waits.
Are you staying downtown or out near the malls?
Not sure yet. Right now we have reservations at a Hampton Inn near a shopping center but we will probably move to the team hotel (we are in town for the App State/Furman game). Turns out there will be a group of 6 or 8 for dinner Friday night. One of the members wants to eat at High Cotton Maverick. Have you eaten there? In searching around online Lazy Goat looked very promising but unless we stay for 2 nights, I guess we will honor our friend's request. Thank you so much for your help. I will put Lazy Goat and Soby's on our list of places to try next time we are in Greenville.
I've never ate at High Cotton myself but it is well regarded. Be sure to save some time to walk around downtown.
P.S. The Hampton Inn nearest Furman is not my favorite. Hopefully it has been renovated in the past two years. The one at 385 is surrounded by good stores. My teenage daughter would like that to be our Greenville base. Personally I would pick the Hampton Inn downtown if you can't stay at the team hotel because half of the rooms overlook falls park. You will be in walking distance to dozens of good restaurants.
We are booked at the Hampton on 385 right now. If the team hotel doesn't work out I will change my reservations. Thanks for the tip.
Our dinner reservations are at 7:00 but we plan to arrive in Greenville by early to mid afternoon. What do you suggest we do? We love gardening and nature. Is Reedy Falls Park worth spending some time in? Where downtown would we want to walk? We plan to go to the Furman campus early on Saturday to walk around. I have heard it is beautiful.
Thank you so much for your help.

Falls park has a long trail beside the river. You can take an hour long walk or just walk for ten minutes and sit by the river. The leaves should be full peak.
The shops lining Main Street are interesting between the Westin Hotel to the west and the Hyatt to the East. One favorite is Mast General Store.
If you are interested in art there is a good museum with Wyeths. Bob Jones University has a gallery. The Governors School of the Arts (accessable through Falls Park) often has gallery hours. I don't know about Saturday.
Just got back from Greenville. We were SO impressed with the downtown area! We spent a long time in Falls Park. It was super, much better than we anticipated. The shops, the restaurants-we can't wait to go back when we have more time and the weather is better. We ended up staying at the ASU team hotel which was really fun. It was the Hilton on Orchard Park Dr. Turned out to be a perfect location since we had to hit TJ Maxx on Sat morning before the game to buy waterproof boots and pants! Ate at High Cotton Maverick; the entree was really good but the salad was so so and the service was not good at all. Next time we will try The Lazy Goat. I talked to a couple of other people who said it was excellent. All in all a really wonderful trip. Greenville is a town of which to be proud!
That's exactly where I was going to suggest! We have several Maverick restaurants here in Charleston - and they each have a tasty menu!
