Help with ? about Pheonix, Scottsdale area.

My kids have a vacation the second week of March. We've never been to Arizona so I was thinking of that as a destination, but, I want to go only when they will be able to swim. We are thinking of the Scottsdale Princess and then the Pointe Hilton which has a great pool area. This may sound like a stupid question but I have no idea of what to expect whether wise that time of year. Can anyone help me out? Are the pools open and warm enough then? What about other activites for a very active family? Thanks so much!

I've been to Scottsdale in April and gone swimming in the pools there at that time. My guess is that March is fine. However, try www.weather.com to see what the average temp. is in Phoenix at that time. Or you could call the hotels and get some info from them.

Cheri, The average high in March in Phoenix is 75.5; the average low is 48.8. I got this at the following Web address:

http://weather.yahoo.com/almanac/Phoenix_AZ_US_f.html

Sounds like it'll be fine--not balmy, but warm enough.

Don's right.
Some days in March are warm enough for the water, but most days aren't hot enough to lure you there. March is a highly variable month. I go to PHX every year in mid March (past 10 years) and on average, it's a little too cool to make me want to swim. Great for outdoor sports like hiking and golf though.

Scottsdale is a year-round resort. Yes, definately, you can go in swimming. Most pools if not all are heated at resort hotels. Remember this is Scottsdale's prime season of year and hotel rates at their highest. Have you thought about staying at the Hyatt Regency, Gainey Ranch? This resort has the most beautiful pools around...slides/waterfalls. There is even a small sandy beach for the kids. Don't worry, March is the very best month of year to visit. Good choice. This is also the month that major baseball teams train at spring training camps all around the valley. Perhaps you could take in a game or two? Check out website. Enjoy.

Cheri's original post was from November for travel this past March. I'll bet she's already home by now!
