Help with a very basic Walmart question in Lihue, Kauai.

When arriving at Lihue and after picking up rental car, we will be heading to Princeville area. Will we pass the Walmart leaving Lihue going to Princeville? I was thinking that might be a good place to pick up supplies since we have a kitchen or is there another grocery, etc. that would be more convenient? Usually Walmarts are fairly reasonable in price. Thanks

Alooohaaaa S54,
If you want to stop a Wally's, go straight out of the airport, don't veer right to Pville.
When you hit the main drag, turn right and you'll run into "Wallys".

Or, you can stop at the Safeway in Kapaa on the way up to Pville. It shares a pkg lot w/ Long's Drugs so you can kill 2 birds.

How many mo' days?
Mahalo,
Kal

If you need wine and beer, you won't get it at Walmart in Lihue. They have the best prices on Kauai Cookies, Kauai Coffee, Kauai Jellies.....K Mart's prices are good on wine, beer and liquor and their prices on juices - that wonderful pog (passion, orange, guava) are good also. We had our photos developed at Walmart and they did an outstanding job! They have a new machine that you download your flash card - had them make prints and cd's for us- just don't re-format or erase your flash card before they process your prints because they failed to print some of ours and had to go back and do a reprint.
If you are just gonna pick up a few grocery items on your way up, I would just wait and stop at Safeway in Lihue, since this is not a super Walmart.
Directly behind the Safeway is a wonderful Mexican restaurant called La Playita Azul. The seafood burrito is definitely enough to split, but the fish flautas are wonderful also. Jeff, John and Moi are super! This people in this place will treat you right, plus they play great music!
Have a wonderful vacation. We got home last Wednesday and I'm still having withdrawals!!

Is the Safeway right on the main highway going through Kapaa? Don't want to miss it. That sounds like a better idea. Thanks. Only 22 more days.

Safeway is on the left in Kapaa if you're headed toward Princeville. You'll know when you're in the vicinity by the heavy traffic.

Beat you to it, Kal!

Bets,
hahahaha...you'd be slow too after my weekend. What do my baseball cap and Sat/Sundays have in common?
They're BOTH on weekends.

The only prob for ya, S54, is if the traffic is backed up and you use the bypass to go around Kapaa, You'd miss the Safeway.

Ahhh... a big submarine sandwich and some white choc-chip/mac-nut cookies from Safeway for late night munchin' after a hard evening at The Sand Bar.

You won't pass the Wal-Mart leaving the airport. However, it isn't too much of a detour. But, from what I recall, it is not a Wal-Mart Supercenter, but the discount store only which means you will be limited in the food selection.

As you leave the airport and come to the first stoplight, do NOT turn right or left. Go straight through. You will be on Ahukini Road. Go to next stoplight, about 1 mile. Turn right. Walmart about 1/8 mile on right. You can't miss it.
I usually shop here for all my condo supplies and sun needs, sunscreen, cheap beach towels, mac nuts, shampoo, toothpaste, flip flops etc... Why pack all that when you can get it on the island? Have a great time. I am still having withdrawal symptoms from my February trip.......
