Help Pick Romantic Getaway for Parents in Nor Cal 4 Days
We are getting away for 4 days from SF
We have been to wine country and would liket to take advantage of having a little more time
I am willing to spend $$ but over $400 just seems tooo steep so I am having hard time in that middle ground $250-$400 for very romantic very lovely, good food, very relaxing, spa maybe
I am also planning trip to Europe in September so I am burned out on planning...please help
We don't like too country style, country cute furnishings. Loved Hotel Healdsburg. Wish I could affort Post Ranch Inn.

One of the great things about SF is that there are so many places to go within a 4 hour drive.
Do you want coastal, mountains, foothills?
For coastal stuff, there is Carmel/Pacific Grove/Monterey, Big Sur, Half Moon Bay, Point Reyes, Mendocino, Fort Bragg.
For foothills, anything in the Gold Country - Nevada City is a popular place.
In the mountains you have Lake Tahoe.

Try Deetjens Inn in Big Sur. Old rustic cabins with wood stoves or fireplaces. Stokes Room is so cute. Has a wood stove - a comfy bed and the whole cabin sits in a wooded canyon. There are journals in the rooms that date back many years (really fun to read). They have a romantic restaurant that also sits in the woods. Soft new age music, candlelight and wonderful food. Rates are around 200.00 per night for Deetjens.

Have you checked www.luxurylink.com? They have nice packages that sometimes include dinner, champagne, breakfast, etc. I've seen them for Mendocino, Gold Country, Napa, Sonoma, etc.
