Help needed for Dallas

I'll be meeting a friend in Dallas and we're looking for a meeting place between our two hotels: the Sheraton on Olive Street and the Magnolia Hotel on Commerce. Are there any recommended restaurants within a short taxi ride and/or walking distance? He's rehearsing at the Fair Park Music Hall. Around that area would be OK too. I'd sure appreciate some help.

Those hotels are less than 10 blocks apart. Why not just meet up at one of them? Fair Park is a few miles away - not a great area for finding restaurants.

Agree not a great restaurant area, but what are you looking for. Type, price range? Just a quick dinner or a place to converse and hang out?

You don't want to hang out near Fair Park really, but Deep Ellum is in between there and downtown and has several good choices in a variety of price ranges: Cane Rosso, Twisted Root Burger, Local, St. Pete's, Angry Dog, Monkey King Noodle, Tanoishii Ramen. Across the street from the Magnolia Hotel is a new very popular place called CBD Provisions (its in the Joule Hotel), or if you want Tex-Mex, Iron Cactus is decent and near the Magnolia. There isn't much near the Sheraton I can think of...Stephan Pyles maybe. For downtown, it would be more lively to stay near the Magnolia I think though.

Cheryllap, a quick light dinner, since he is performing and can't eat much beforehand. That said, we like a nice environment with good light food and not too noisy so we can talk. Beckytx those are awesome suggestions. I didn't know about Deep Ellum and will definitely check it out. I had heard about CBD Provisions and it was on my list to try. Does it fit the bill for us, do you think? Local is a definite must-do for me, maybe for us. Thank you SO much for the suggestion!
