In trying to plan a trip to Oxford, Mississippi during a home football game weekend, I have discovered hotels and private residences on VRBO are sold-out for that weekend. Does anyone know of any other source for lodging in Oxford, or have a good tip for a convenient place to stay in a nearby town? I don't know the area or geography. If all else fails I may book a hotel in Memphis but other than the Peabody have not stayed in any Memphis hotels. There will be four of us -- any advice would be appreciated!

Rocks and Roads in Utah

There are lots and lots of small towns around, but the "biggest/nearest" is Tupelo - maybe 40-50 miles.
However, Batesville while small - is on I-55 and it probably has a bunch of hotels around there since it is at the interchange with the highway that connect to Oxford.
You might want to consider Tunica. It is about an hour drive to Oxford. There are several casino and hotel options there.
You might want to access all the housing options on the website below. Who knows, you might get lucky!!

japw82, that was actually an excellent source, and I found a place! Thanks so much.
Glad I could help. Which game are you attending? We'll be in Oxford for the Rebel/Razorback showdown. Go Hogs!!!
Glad you found a spot! Somewhere.....buried deep within a bunch of college memorabilia...is an Ole Miss Rebel flag from 1977. I went to MUW for a bit and used to go with friends to the Ole Miss games!!!!

japw82 - my mother's family is from Arkansas and my younger son wants to play golf for Univ of Ark....but for now, I am still an Ole Miss fan!
