Leen,
I just came from spending a weekend in Santa Barbara. Here are my recommendations: Palace Cafe- cajun/creole food, moderate prices, Chad's - moderate pricinge, Tupelo Junction- Southern food Moderate, The Waterfront Grill- seafood, moderate-expensive. Have fun.
There's a little restaurant right across from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art (NOT State Street--the perpendicular street) called something like Arts and Letters. One day when I was having lunch there Julia Child came in for a meal. On some evenings, they have special entertainment. Food is Californian--which means a bit of everything and very good.
