Hello all! My husband is in the Air Force and we've been transferred to Little Rock! We'll only be there for the summer--not enough time for me to get a job, so I'll be dying for something to do. Any suggestions on good shopping spots/restaurants/sight-seeing? Anything would be helpful.
Help! Moving to Little Rock!

I assume he's being transferred to the Air Force Base, which is in Jacksonville not Little Rock. It's unfortunate you'll only be there for the summer, which is HOT!! I'm not familiar with Jacksonville but Little Rock has lots of good restaurants. For additional info, check out littlerock.com
Welcome to LR! Little Rock has 3 pretty big malls, 2 in downtown LR and 1 in North LR..they're ok but mostly typical mall stores. There's also a good shopping area in west LR on Bowman Curve Rd...(Pier 1, Hobby Lobby, Garden Ridge, etc.) LR has a river market district in the middle of downtown that has a few neat shops, mostly bar and grill places, which are all pretty good (Underground Pub, Flying Saucer, Sticky Fingers). There's a lot of nice parks around the area..Pinnacle Mtn. State Park is only about a 20 minute drive from downtown LR, and Petit Jean Mtn. is about an hour away but well worth it for the overlook and waterfalls. The AR Arts Center is downtown in MacArthur park, and then there's also Burns Park in north LR that has a lot of sport fields and stuff for kids. LR is pretty close to some nice lakes in AR, and summer is a great time to be here, except for the heat. (Greer's Ferry Lake). Also, LR is real close to Hot Springs, AR (1 1/2 hours away) where they're known for their natural hot spring spas and have some neat old hotels ant touristy things, along with horse racing. There are a lot of good restaurants in LR:
Cajun's Warf (seafood)
Bene Vida, (Italian)
Purple Cow, Buffalo Grill (American)
Tias/ El Portion (Mexican)
And then all the typical chain restaurants.
Hope this helps a little!
Even though most people think we are all hillbillies in ARK we are not so...since you didnot say were you were transferring from. Since your post is pretty old, I wonder if you are here yet. The above poster did a great job. Let me add Sekisui great sushi and other Japanese fair in a Japanese atmosphere. The river market area has concerts in the summer as well as Altell arena. Memorial weekend has a Riverfest is a 3 day party in the Rivermarket area. Also the base you are going to has a air show every summer with the Blue Angels and the works. Since the war this may not take place please let us know if you are still coming to Arkansas. I work in LR, we can do lunch!
