My husband and I will be in Uxbridge, MA for two weeks in mid to late October. We love history; he's a genealogy buff, so we expect to have a great time. A couple of questions:
1) What sort of weather should we be prepared for?
2) What are the must-see sights and some out-of-the norm sights?
In advance, thanks for any info you can offer.

Weather could be in low 70s in the day and cold at night (it's been in the 40s at night recently but just warmed up again) or it could be cold and drizzly. Dress in layers and bring an umbrella. You would probably enjoy Sturbridge Village or Plimoth Plantation. Salem MA isn't that far and will be all ready for Halloween. Johnson and Wales College in Providence RI has a museum devoted to cookery. Call ahead for a tour. It's small, has a lot of stoves and is in an out of the way place. They have some unusual sculptures and cooking utensils. Check some local newspapers on-line for events. Keene NH is probably a 2-3 hour drive but will be having a huge pumpkin festival with hundreds of lighted jack-o-lanterns. I've heard the tours of the Lowell Mills are fascinating. I think there is also a quilt museum. Lowell is right off rt 495 near the MA/NH border. Have a great time. The thursday edition of the Boston Globe has events for the greater Boston area.
The above poster is exactly right about the weather. Since you mentioned history, you might want to check out New Bedford, Mass. whaling museum, the Haffenreffer Museum of native american history in Bristol Rhode Island, and of course Newport RI for the many examples of revolutionary war period houses, gilded age mansions, and much more.
A few suggestions for history buffs:
The country's oldest Baptist congregation is in Providence RI.
The country's first media sensationalized murder trial, that of Lizzie Borden, took place in Fall River MA.
The mansions of Newport, while not strictly of historic interest, are well worth a visit.
You didn't mention if you've ever been to Boston / Lexington / Concord; this has American's greatest collection of historic sites.
