Help?! I-40 or I-20 across Southeast US this week? (Construction delays?)

Hello everyone --

For those of you who have been using I-40 to cross the US, I have a question about construction delays. Google maps is showing 16 delays on I-40 from New Mexico eastward, with the majority being in the southeastern states.

Google maps also says we have a 30-hour drive from Flagstaff Arizona to Raleigh NC, but that that estimate is without traffic. We are trying to assess how long it will actually take us.

Are you someone who is driving 40 regularly? Care to opine -- what's going on? I once lived in western North Carolina where parts of 40 were closed for a year due to rock slides, so I am not sure what to make of what I'm seeing on google maps. Are they five-minute slowdowns or significant issues?

Thanks!

Just checked Mapquest and they didn't have any construction delays shown on your route. Figure on 27.5 hours to Fort Smith Arkansas. Your route takes about an hour longer than the route through Salina KS.
We thought you left yesterday (Friday).
The route from Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas is rather desolate but if you choose the southern route, that's the way to go.

Hi Tom -- We DID leave Friday And yes, we went from Tahoe to Vegas on the Southern route -- thanks.

So we leave now from Flagstaff -- glad to see you didn't see any construction delays -- I was looking on Google Maps. Many thanks

HanSoloX, if you have a smart phone or iPad, download the free WAZE app. It gives you the info on the road ahead as it is put in by WAZE users on the road, real time. Also where there are policemen, accidents, etc. and how fast the traffic is moving I guess based on monitoring the devices. I've noticed that Googlemaps sometimes will indicate slow traffic based on WAZE.

Come up I 85 at some point. I'm obviously not looking at a map.
The rock slides on i40 are well documented, and not present at this time
