Help! Hurricane ruined my trip!

Was to go to Bahamas next month. Just found out my hotel has damage and won't be open till November. I have my flights to Nassau. Any suggestions? Cruises?

Atlantis and British Colonial are always safe choices in Nassau.

How about another part of the Bahamas? Nassau is a small part of the chain and I'm sure there are some other areas that are fine and they could use your tourist dollars.

I'm almost positive Bimini suffered no damage. I would also check out Eleuthera.

If what you're looking for is a recommendation for a hotel in the Bahamas (I think that's what you want, but not 100% sure), then why not post on the Caribbean Islands board with a descriptive header such as "I need a hotel in the Bahamas next month - any suggestions?"

Better yet - why not do a search of the Bahamas board for hotel suggestions before posting, and you may find your question already answered.

What airline are you flying? Continental and American will allow you to change your flights to another time and/or destination without incurring the change fee. If you don't fit within the date ranges specified, it's worth a phone call to explain your circumstances.

If neither works, use Nassau as a jumping off point to get to Exuma, Andros, Cat, Bimini, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, etc. -- but check with each property you're interested in; if not damaged, many of them close for September/October. Be warned, however: if you are looking for what Nassau has to offer, you may not find it in the Out Islands.

Didn't Harbor Island get slammed by Jeanne? I know Marsh Harbor and Green Turtle got hit.
