Help from foodies please. Gourmet take out in NYC near Chelsea Piers?

Calling all NYC fodors foodies!

My husband is taking me on a 2 hour sunset sail around Manhattan for my birthday on Wednesday. We would like to pick up some really nice take out food around that area to eat on the boat. Could anyone recommend any of the establishments in that area of town? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

There's a Whole Foods at 23rd street. or you could pick up something at Chelsea Market.

Greek? Middle Eastern? Spanish? Thai? Something a little ethnic would be awesome.

But you better call and find out if they have take out.

There is a new food market in the church that used to have the Limelight disco. Have not been there but you can report.

Is if Cookshop does take out. http://www.cookshopny.com/000_home/000home.htm

Greek-http://www.periyali.com/
Very upscale and you would also have to call and see what they could do.

Those suggestions are just perfect! Thank you so much. I will give a few phone calls and see what turns up.

Please make sure the boat you're going on allows you to bring food aboard. Sounds potentially messy and possibly unnecessary and distracting.

The company actually encourages couples to bring their own picnic. Messy? Distracting? Come on now - where is your sense of adventure? I love to eat and I love to sail why not marry the two. Each to his own. We can't eat beforehand because husband is working -- and we don't want to wait until afterward as the sail goes until 9:30PM and by then we'll be starving. (I am training for the NYC triathlon . . . if we don't have good food on board -- I might eat the sails!)
