Help--Boston weekend w/ family

Our family of 4 is planning on driving down to Boston from Maine the end of April or beginning of May. We are planning on doing the science museum and aquarium and lots of sight seeing. We don't want to have to drive into the city (we plan on hitting the MOS when we first get there). We are looking for hotels near the aqauarium/fanieul hall. Price range is $100-$250. Also would like parking included if possible. Any suggestions?

We've stayed at the Best Western Roundhouse Suites and liked it's convenience to Rt 93. It's in your price range BUT it's not a very good location. Outdoor parking is free (big plus in Boston). It's a long walk to a T station but they also provide a free shuttle to the T. We didn't find any good restaurants nearby and it's not an area where you will want to walk after dark. I check the Holiday Inn Govt Center but was aghast at the price. You might be able to get a good deal with Priceline. I liked a hotel on the Cambridge side of the river with nice view, decent hotel restaurant but it was also a long walk to the T and even farther to things if you consider getting a cab. With a family of 4, cabs are probably better than the T. The size of the rooms at Roundhouse is nice and a lot roomier than most standard two double bed hotel room.

I'm not sure this would be my first choice, but given your price range there's a Hampton Inn in Cambridge just north of the city and near a T-stop.

Pro's: free parking, short walk to the Lechmere T stop on the Green Line that takes you to the MOS and Faneuil Hall area as well as into the center of Boston.
Cons: not in Boston, on a highway in a slightly industrial area, with few choices nearby for eating.

I'd check other posts or travel websites for comments on the hotel since I've never stayed there.

Husband, two sons, and I just spent the weekend at the Doubletree in the Theater District/Chinatown. It was $128 per night with a special internet rate. Nice hotel. It doesn't have a pool but is connected to the Chinatown YMCA and guests are free to use any of their facilities. It also had plenty of nearby restaurants and the T station is next door. Expensive parking but we didn't use the car all weekend. I might suggest that you park at the regional transportation lot in Woburn and take the train in. The MOS, Fanieul Hall, etc. will all be within walking distance depending on the ages of your children. Kids and I took the train in from Lowell and met my husband after work at Quincy Market. We drove home but next time I would save the money and have him leave his car at work and take public trans. The Club Quarters which is only available on line or if you are a member is on a quiet street in the Financial District. You would need two rooms but I have got them for $119 a night. Validated parking is available the next street over for $8 a night (a great deal). Very walkable to everything but the MOS. Maybe you could just go there before you check in. Hope this helps.

You can take the train from Woburn which is very convenient. Or, if Nashua isn't too far out of the way, they have new bus service to South Station for $5 each way. It just started a few weeks ago.

Oh, and for hotels, you can try the Millenium Hotel for about $170/night.
