Heidel House/Green Lake WI

Green Lake is I think Wisconsin's deepest lake, and the town of Gren Lake has gift and antique stores (antiquing is fun in this general area, too). It's been a few years since we stayed there, but I recall the Heidel House as having nice accomodations and a nice restaurant of its own. There is another nice restaurant around the lake, in an old house, but I'm drawing a blank on the name.

Green Lake isn't too far from us--don't get there too often. A nice restaurant on the lake (my husband says we've been there and it is a large older house) is Grey Rock Mansion. It's on Illinois Ave--so is Heidel House. Can't say much about the shopping. I've never shopped there--but it is a summer vacation area. Shopping malls are found in Madison, Appleton, and Milwaukee and are all about a 70 mile drive away--no mall in green Bay.
Princeton (a very small city) isn't too far from Green Lake is known as a good antique shopping area--but again, I don't know how many shops are open in winter. The city of Cedarburg (near Milwaukee) has many small speciality shops which are fun and offer some unusual items. Katie
