Hawaii trip report...

Hi everyone, we vacationed on The Big Island and Maui this past June and had a wonderful time. If you would like to read about our trip please feel free to check out our travel journal at http://www.nbhtravel.com/Hawaii2004/Hawaii2004.htm It contains a long trip report and TONS of photos. If you can't find it pasting that link into your address bar, just surf the net for NBH Travel Journal and click on Hawaii 2004 on our home page. I hope everyone enjoys the report. happy Travels.

Hi velodurt - I posted this (below) under the Kealakekua Bay string, but now am thinking it is better to post it here directly to you.... so I'll copy and paste my question here.

LOVED your website of great photos. So a question for you... of all the places you've been (as shown on your website) where would you say is the absolute BEST snorkeling you've seen? We're trying to decide if we should go back to Hawaii (been there several times) or try the Caribbean (never been there) for our next vacation... this is for a family of 4 (kids are 13 and 9).

Thanks!

Carole

velodurt: That's a fantastic trip report! Lots of helpful and accurate info.

One note though. Durty Jake's is a fun place to have drinks and listen to some live music, but in our experience (and advice from locals) it's best to stay away from the food there.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback!

cawhite: Thanks again for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the website. Answering your question is not easy. I would really have to say that the snorkeling in Hawaii is the best I have experienced so far, but if you live on the east coast the Caribbean is a great alternative to that long flight, and Bonaire would be my top pick. I could not believe how incredible the reef and marine life were at Bonaire (check out our journal if you haven't already) I would really place it as almost a tie to Hawaii, and I think it would be a great family getaway too. Check out Bonaire Talk for a great forum. Hope that helps. Thanks again for checking out our website.

fdecarlo: Thanks to you too for your compliments. I am so happy that our site can help people out and/or bring entertainment. I guess we must have lucked out the day we were at Dirty Jakes because the food was wonderful, but thanks for the head's up. Glad you enjoyed the website. Thanks again.

Thanks for the speedy response velodurt. No, I'm not from the East Coast... I'm from So. California. That's probably why I've never done the Caribbean.

Guess we better think another Hawaii trip (we also did 4 islands... in August... but didn't get enough time on Maui).

Where were the underwater pics taken from on your Maui trip? Down near the Maui Prince?

Thx.

Yeah I can see where Hawaii would be a good choice for you...you really can't go wrong there! But you really should try the Caribbean someday too. I will be going to the Turks and Caicos later this year...check our site for a report. Or have you thought about French Polynesia? I hear it is incredible!

Yeah, the underwater pics from Maui were right off the Prince's beach...the famed Turtle Town. In fact, the sea turtle with the blue water was taken there, and the eel. Feel free to email me anytime (link is on our website).
