I have searched many sites and for Honolulu to Kona Feb 22 and back to Honolulu on Mar.01-2012 the best fare I have found is $143.00 plus fees and taxes = $168.30 per person through One Travel and on Mesa Airlines . Is that approx as good as I will get and if I wait till closer to the dates are prices likely to be higher?
Thanks

1st time to Kauai! Will not be the last!

Not sure what the rest of your trip involves, but consider flying into Honolulu to start your trip and then fly home directly from Kona to end your trip.
If you don't HAVE to be in Honolulu on both ends of your trip [that is, you are only flying back to HNL so you can then fly home] it could work out to be easier and less money.
Already booked and the fare was a deal from Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada to Honolulu return. Kona was not an option at that price.
But thanks for the thought.
Warrsher.
OK, it was worth a suggestion. I did the same thing several years ago, not even thinking about doing an open jaw. I wish I had, would have saved us a few $$. So, I like to suggest it to folks that are planning. Have a great time.
That's about the going rate for RT inter-island flights.
I prefer Hawaiian Airlines. Safer, more reliable.
Airfare is always a gamble~book now, and you take the risk the fare will decrease; wait until the last minute to book, and you risk an increase in fare AND sold out flights. You can sign up for fare alerts at kayak.com; I just checked it, and for those dates, the least expensive flight was $172 on both Mesa and Hawaiian Air.
I'd only book Mesa if you have time to kill -- don't have to make a connection. They have a terrible reputation for canceled and delayed flights. They have scanty equipment and personnel. If you want to be sure you'll actually Go!, use Hawaiian Airlines.
Thanks for the info. I wondered if they were cheaper for a reason and it looks like maybe they are. I must remember as a rule the cheapest fare is not always a deal.
Thanks everyone for your input. I really do appreciate it.
Thanks
Warrsher
