Hi all,
The beautiful havasupai area was closed for last 6-8 months, I believe. I was notified on 04/30 that its open now and they're taking reservation. I called them on 05/02 (just after 2 days) to learned that there is NO VACCANCY in lodge for entire month of June!! It was disappointing to me.
I was wondering if anyone ever got reservation to havasupai lodge by directly calling them? or shall i try with some travel agent ot agency?
Havasupai lodge reservation - anyone ever got it?

I know this isn't typical National Park Lodging, but all "in park" lodging is tough to come by. Especially in the summer months. I suspect that you would need to book it pretty much on the first day it becomes available. Phantom Ranch books up that far out, so it doesn't suprise me that Havasu would also.
Interesting that the area was close...why was that? We did stay at Havasupai Lodge at Peach Springs a few years ago but were with Elderhostel program so they made the reservation. Good accomodations though...AAA rated. 928 769 2230 the number then. There is another motel further east which I would not recommend...at Grand Canyon Caverns I believe.
Good location to see western part of Grand Canyon and you can go down a gravel road to the Colorado R. Actually we chose to walk the last stretch just for the scenery. Only place that's the case. The natives operate rafting from the lodge.

It's true that typical National Park Lodging books up far in advance, but a few summers ago I snagged a great room at El Tovar on our anniversary by calling only two weeks ahead. It was just luck, a last minute cancellation. Might be worth a try to call Havasupai & maybe if you get a "no" try back in a few days.
