Has anyone stayed at the Chula Vista Best Western?
Has anyone stayed at the Chula Vista Best Western on Broadway? We have rooms booked there for the end of June. We just need sleeping rooms. Any nearby, walking distance, restraunts or attractions? We will be traveling with 3 teenagers (13). We don't have a lot of free time but have an extra evening and morning. We will have a rental car but are not experienced city drivers. What would be the best, easiest beach to get to? Is the beach open/safe in the evening? Any other ideas on what to do or see? We are not big shoppers. Let me rephrase that, I am not a big shopper if I have to take 3 - 13 year olds.

Yes we have already committed to staying in Chula Vista. The kids are competing in a tournament at a nearby school on Saturday. The rest of the group is staying there too. We were just looking for some ideas for our free time.

I have only stayed at La Quinta in Chula Vista. I do recommend La Quinta, a very nice and clean hotelin a safe area.
A very nice place to visit, very close to Chula Vista is Coronado Island, just a few minutes, (maybe 15 minutes) from Chula Vista. From Broadway go south to Palm, take Palm towards the coast, stay on Palm, once you past the Imperial Beach area there is a nice drive towards the island. A very nice and safe place.
Enjoy Chula Vista!!

I stayed in Chula Vista once when the city was sold out for convention. Nice quiet place it was then, with good connection with the city and the border by a trolley line. We used public transportation.

Ok then, I'll give it a try... I've lived in SD my whole life but been to Chula Vista only once.
Here is a link to our newspaper that has lists of things to do:

It says there's an Islands restuarant. It's a chain but they have good food and a fun surfer motif - you would all love it. The marina usually has some kind of boat show/maritime event happening. I wouldn't go to the beach there. It is a very short (any easy) drive to one of the best and safest beaches we have - Coronado. You could walk around or rent bikes and explore the town. Maybe stop at Mootime for an ice cream that they hand mix your desired ingrediants on a cold marble slab in front of you. Or check out the Ferry Landing...
Good luck.
