Hartford, CT to Bedford Hills, NY transportation

My daughter and I will be in Hartford, CT in February and would like to get to Bedford Hills, NY without having to go through NYC (we'll catch it on the way back). Anybody out there familiar with a direct route via train or bus?

Thanks,
Catherine

Take I84 to 684 South to Saw Mill River Parkway South (most likely to Route 117 - depending where in Bedford Hills). I'd have to check which exit off the Saw Mill.

Sorry, you are not driving! But if you did, that's the way to take.

This is no direct route by public transportation that I know of. Have you thought about renting a car?

I don't want to mess with renting a car for a two hour drive, but wanted instead to utilize public transportation.

Thanks,
Catherine

Very roundabout - but you could take the train from Hartford to New Haven and switch to the train to NYC. Take it as far as Westchester and there take a cab from Mamaroneck station to white Plains to change to another metronorth train to Bedford Hills.

Can;t imagine how long this will take - renting a car would obviously be much easier - but this is probably easier than going into NYC and back out again.
