I received what looks to be a good deal on a couple days at the Harrah's Tunica. We aren't big gamblers (I have no idea why I was offered this, the few points I had expired months ago) but we've never been in that area and would like to see a new place. What is there to do close to the hotel/casino? Our price range is pretty medium - we aren't big on higher ranked restaurants, shows, etc. I don't know if we would want to rent a car so the closer the better. Thanks in advance.

Wow, I hate to tell you this, but Harrah's Tunica is out in the middle of nowhere. In fact, it's not even within walking distance of other casinos. There's some kind of discount strip mall, but not nearby. For non-gamblers, Tunica would drive me nuts
I might add that we ARE gamblers and go to Tunica once every month or 6 weeks - we spend the night in Memphis, though. Other than casino restaurants, there isn't much else. You'll definitely need a car.
I live in Memphis for 20 years and was a frequent Tunica patron.
You will undoubtedly be flying into Memphis. There is no scheduled airline service into Tunica. So unless casino is providing transport to thier property, you will need car or cab. Tunica is some 20 miles from airport.
Prior post was correct. Other than casinos, not much else entertainment wise (depending on what performers may be appearing). There are 2 golf courses within the casino network (Grand National operated by what was once the Grand) and another (forget the name at the moment).
For entertainment other than casinos, Memphis is the only alternative. Graceland, Beale Street, Civil Rights Museum, Stax Recording Studios. Lots of good restaurants. Great music in the clubs on Beale Street.
Is this Memphis as in Tennessee? Because the post is tagged "Michigan".

Thanks to the rest of you for your help, I think we'll pass on the trip. It's really nice to be able to get some advance information so we don't end up being sorry we spent some money on a vacation we might not like.
