Hampton Inn Union Square

Is this an ok place to stay? I am looking at it because of its close proximity to Fox Theater where we'll be attending a concert. We could easily relocate the next morning to be closer to activities if need be. I'm interested in visiting the zoo and Grant's Farm during our two day stay.

What a fun puzzle of a post. Crazy4Hawaii, you must not realize that when someone enters the US board, there is no indication where you are talking about. I could start clicking each and every state and read through all the posts individually to see which state you clicked on for this post which only helps in the case of using the search function, but that could take hours, unless it happens to be Alabama which means it would come up on the first try.

Let's see. I know of a Union Square in San Francisco, California, but never heard of a Fox theatre of a Grant's Farm there.

I know there is a Union Square in New York City, but the other things don't seem to ring a bell there either.

I know there is a Fox theatre in Atlanta and there is a big Grant's Park (is there a farm there too?), but I don't recall a Union Square. I'm guessing this might be it though?

So, would you like to clue us unknowing ones where it is you're talking about?

I check the Missouri posts, so I know this was posted under Missouri.

There's a Grant's Farm owned by Budweiser and a Fox Theater on Grand.

I'm assuming it's really the Hampton Inn Union Station.

I've not stayed there. My friend in St Louis had a consultant working for him who ended up staying in virtually all the downtown St Louis hotels over the course of a year. The Hampton was the only one that achieved her rating of 4 full rats. Let's say she didn't use a positive scale.

You win the prize for figuring it out, indytravel. Glad I didn't do a search, it would have taken quite a while clicking state by state to reach Missouri.

Maybe you have not realized yet that ALL postings are on one page. The state thing is for individual searchs for you not for posting.

Hope this clears up the confusion for you.

indytravel-
Thank you for your reply. As you stated, I did correctly post under the state heading of Missouri. That means my thread shows up on the main talk page and also on the Missouri specific page. The others who replied obviously don't have a clue (especially Patrick)...

Sorry I said Square and not Station. I can see how that could be a little confusing...

Anyone else who has knowledge of the Hampton Inn Union STATION?

Patrick has a clue about a lot of things. One of the things he has a clue about is how this forum works. Someone else still doesn't get it, however, meaning that person doesn't have a clue (about how this forum works).

Someone doesn't understand why it makes no sense to post a question that will be totally meaningless to about 99% of the people who come here, because they didn't come to the US board solely for the purpose of looking at Missouri posts. You really don't have a clue, do you crazy4Hawaii?
And what's really sad is that a couple of people have tried to explain it, but this poster still doesn't understand, or care, or have a clue.

Patrick, I know that people being unclear drives you crazy, but you probably just need to let it go. People are going to be vague because Fodors isn't intuititve and you probably will be happier just living with it instead of snapping.

You are absolutely right, Mike. It makes no sense to try to politely suggest to people how to improve this forum. Thank you for your comment.

Patrick, if I were a new fodor's poster, I would appreciate your sage wisdom, and if crazy4Hawaii had a sense of humor, he or she too, would also. Your advice has been spot on so many, many times and I, as a regular reader think you're cool!( For what that's worth.)Cheers!

I WAS posting specifically for those looking at the Missouri posts. I am just as familiar with the way this forum works as Patrick is. - I've been participating for quite awhile. I admit I was unintentially unclear, but the audience I was aiming for (those familiar with Missouri) did not have much trouble figuring it out. I can do without "sage wisdom" when it is sarcastic and essentially hateful.

If you've posted before and know the forum, you know you CAN'T post for a specific state. Yes, you can pick a state so it helps when people search for that state but ALL POSTS (every one) goes into the generic U.S. forum. I immediately thought "San Francisco" and then "New York" because of the Union Square reference. Next time, maybe post "St Louis: Hampton Inn Union Station" and it's all better!

Thank you, Dan. I think I'll just give up on this one...
I admit my mistake and apologize for calling Patrick "clueless". There seems to be a trend developing on this forum whereby those who make innocent mistakes are viciously attacked. There's no place for that in an arena that's essentially just for fun. I overreacted and will try to grow a thicker skin and rediscover my "sense of humor".

I'm so glad you understand how the forum works. So then you are aware that 99% of the people who come here do not enter "Missouri" when they enter, yet they are faced with your post without a single way in the world to know what state you are talking about right???? Sort of like standing out in the middle of traffic with a big sign that says "STOP, PICK ME UP!", and feeling comfortable that you were only doing that for your friend who might be coming by in an hour or so who would know the sign was meant for him. After all that's who you meant the sign for.

It's nice that you "aimed" for the Missouri people, but would you please explain how the other 99% of the readers here were supposed to know that?

By the way there was NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING hateful about my posts. Sarcastic, perhaps, but certainly not HATEFUL. It is unfortunate that you really don't want to listen or understand why you were wrong. I do understand that. Some people can't stand anyone suggesting how they can improve, as they consider any such comment some sort of personal attack on them. You are not the first poster who really doesn't care about how the forum works best, nor the first poster who ignored the clear directions from the editors right next to where you posted your message saying to make it clear and concise. And you won't be the last either, so take comfort in that.

Cheers, crazy4Hawaii. Sorry I offended you with my well intentioned posts.

Patrick,
If you look at the post above yours, you can see that I have listened and admitted both my lack of clarity and my overreaction to your response. I'll take comfort in the fact that I have put this thread behind me and will go on with my life, a better
poster as a result of this unfortunate experience.
Cheers!
