Gulf Shores June 2011 - should we?

Have been planning for a year to rent in Gulf Shores, AL with friends next summer. Anyone been recently or any locals able to give me a true picture of what conditions are or might be?
Also, please send any home rental recommenations (5 bedrooms) and areas of note. We were thinking Fort Morgan....

While Gulf Shores will probably be safe, occasionally oil resurfaces. In my opinion you'd be better going to Clearwater or the East Coast of Florida to be safe.

Gulf Shores for a week in July would be fun. Don't worry about oil spill. BP continues to clean up anything that surfaces. The food is outstanding in GS and Orange Beach. Go to VRBO.Com and look up rentals in the area. You should find plenty to keep you busy.
