We will be in NYC for three days this summer. Any recommendations for Italian, French, or American neighborhood casual restaurants in the Village , Little Italy, general downtown area? and / or the Broadway area? I posted on Chowhounds, but so far no luck.
Thanks...

I think your use of the word "eats" may be the problem. That sounds like you're looking for truck stops or greasy spoons - rather than local places with interesting cuisine - even if they are casual.
For perspective - a friend of mine used to live in a building over a place called "Fat's Eats" - that was closed by the board of health several times - and was definitely not a place you would go even for just a sandwich or omelet.
reworded per your advice.
Did not use "eats"on Chowhound. No response.
