Great Smokey Mountain Railroad Trip
Anyone taken the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad trip from Bryson City NC? We are interested in this trip and wonder if there is a lot of sites to see or if it is just kind of a boring trip for an hour of shopping?

We did this one year, but I don't remember it orignating in Bryson City so they must have changed the route. We started in Dillsboro, I believe. It was a fun time and a very scenic ride. We placed the site where the train wreck in The Fugitive was filmed and also passed a little town that was really neat where there were several scenes from My Fellow Americans were filmed.
Does, the train go thru the Nantahala Gorge and to the Nantahala Outdoor Center? It's certainly a beautiful area of the country, so if you do it on a train everyone can enjoy the scenery instead of someone having to drive and keep their eyes on curvy road.
Spring for seats in an enclosed car because if you are in an open car and it rains, you will get soaked and cold.

I thought I had seen one in Dillsboro in the past, but couldn't find that one again. This one leaves Bryson City and it only says that it is 53 miles over 25 bridges and through two tunnels, with a stop for one hour for shopping.
