Great Places to Stay on the Oregon Coast
We will soon take a leisurely drive down the Oregon coast staying in Cannon Beach at Schooner's Cove, in Yachats at Overleaf Lodge, and in Gold Beach at Tu Tu Tun Lodge.
On our way we would like to check out other good places to stay--preferably those that have great oceanfront rooms with balconies. Any ideas?

The Channel House Inn in Depoe Bay has great reviews- some of the rooms have a private hot tub on the deck overlooking the ocean. The rooms overlook the harbor which was made famous in the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest"
Whale Cove Inn is a sister hotel to Channel House- I have not been there but pics are beautiful.
I love staying the inn keepers house at Heceta Head- its a B&B- fun to take a flashlight and walk up to the lighthouse at night. They have a fabulous breakfast in the AM.
I stayed there with a group, we bought fresh crab in town and had a big crab feed one night ( there is a kitchen available for guests) . There is a big community room with a piano, games, books and no televisions- it was a very fun place to stay. There is a big deck overlooking the ocean and they provide you with warm blankets so if its a chilly day, you can wrap up and still sit outside and watch the waves roll in.
One of my favorite weekends ever at the coast!

The whole Oregon Coast is beautiful, and there are a number of places which have different attractions: Views, restaurants, golf, close to beach walk/hikes, casino, you name it.
I think the best thing to do is research as much as you can ahead of time, and then stop off at the places that sound the most appealing, and also - pull over if you find a place that seems like your cup of tea.

And as I recall - there are several nice places - overlooking the Ocean - south of Lincoln City - such as the Surfrider at Depoe Bay, etc. http://www.surfriderresort.com/
There is another world class golf course/hotel in that area also -but it's name escapes me at the moment.

Oh yes: Here is it: Salishan - very nice with a great restaurant.
see: http://www.salishan.com/ and http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses...?course=931045
Also - the quaint town of Florence has some good fish restaurants, but they are also other good places to dine all along the coast.

BTW - like Sunbum - we used to have crab feasts on the Oregon Coast. I was in Grad School (MBA) at U of Oregon in 1969-70, and for a break from studies - we would drive from Eugene over to Florence, grab a crab, loaf of french bread, bottle of wine or a six pack - all for well under $10 per couple - and build a fire on the beach - throw down a couple of old blankets and have a great time.
Heck - I would spend $50 now to do that.

I'm so glad you plan to stay at the Overleaf Lodge. I love it there and for Christmas I gave my dad a gift certificate to stay in the Restless Waters room and a massage at the spa. He just used it last weekend and was so pleased. The spa is amazing. It's on the third floor and the view from the hot tub/pool is incredible! You could literally spend hours going from the hot tub to the warming pool(to cool off) while watching the waves crash on the rocks.
If you schedule a spa treatment you have use of the facilities before and after. They have a steam rooms, a heat dry sauna, ice cold lemon water, cucumbers for your eyes, tea service, a robe & spa shoes, showers tiled with river rock and luxury products to sample.
Hope your trip is excellent-If you are hungry as you drive through Depoe Bay eat at Tidal Raves-you won't be sorry!
