Can anyone tell me the process and cost for visiting the new Skywalk at Grand Canyon West?

Is there a charge to get in the park?
What is the charge for the sky walk?
What is the closest town?
How long actual drive time is it from Vegas?

Did you know that security guards will not let anyone take their camera out onto the Skywalk? I would be livid! Read the article before you decide to waste your money on the trip!

Wow--good read. The skywalk is on an Indian reservation, right? From what I've read in visiting other states with reservations the tribe reserves the right to change visiting hours as they deem necessary. Didn't know tired qualified as a reason however, lol.

Didn't read where cameras are not allowed--where did you read that tekwriter?

The reference to cameras is near the bottom of the article.

"Patrick said the platform is not suspended "4,000 feet above the Colorado River" as the brochure and website claim. Security agents at the platform take all cameras and return them when tourists are back inside an adjoining building."

My supervisor just returned from the GC and she did the skywalk. She loved it and couldn't say enough about it.

But that said, I'm still not sure it's for me. A little too pricey.

My own opinion about the whole issue is that if you've never seen the Grand Canyon (or even if you have), it is so majestic from any perspective in the park, that there is no advantage to the Skywalk, particularly at that price. Didn't any of you ever tear up when you first saw your first glimpse of it? I have seen many, many other national parks before Grand Canyon and it is the kind of place that makes people gasp at their first glimpse. After a while, I spied on people walking up to the overlook just to enjoy their reaction. I honestly do not believe the the Skywalk offers a better perspective than most of the overlooks in the Park.
