Grand Canyon & Sedona - Best Time of Year?

Looks like we can get there in early September, late November or sometime next spring. Which would you recommend with both destinations in mind? We were in Sedona in the spring once before and it was lovely. I know that it would be much warmer in early September and have no idea how chilly it might be in the Flagstaff area in the end of November. We would not be doing a lot of hiking (knee issues) but would want to get outside every day, take day trips and take lots of photos at the beginning and end of the day. Our thought is to go up to Flagstaff for a few days after spending time in Sedona so that we can catch the best light (weather permitting) at the Grand Canyon. Any advice for us?

I have asked a similar question about timing for the Hilton Head Island, Charleston and Savannah areas. Trying to figure out how to plan our vacations over the next year. Would greatly appreciate any help you could give us!

I was there in early October and it was way too hot for me and I live in Mississippi. I would go in late November. It's a beautiful area to visit. I would go to Charleston and HH in the spring when the flowers are blooming before it gets too hot. Try to visit Savannah also. Stay in the Historic District and walk to all the attractions. Enjoy your trip.

It's sort of a tradeoff. While you might like to get cooler weather in Sedona - the Grand Canyon in November could get colder.

Actually - was just in Sedona (and at the GC) - and it cools off some at night in Sedona (it's over 4,000 ft) - and is beautiful - and if it's too hot for you during the day - hit the pool.

And why stay in Flagstaff? Get over to the Grand Canyon - is my best advice.

For Sedona, I think mid-April to mid-May ar best. But weather can be fickle. I have seen sleet and snow near the end of April and highs approaching 90 in early May. Generally, you can figure in the 80's during the day and around 50 at night. The GC will be probably 10-15 degrees cooler.

In the Autumn, I like all of October in Sedona, but it doesn't look like that is an option. End of November will be quite chilly in Sedona and around Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon it would be downright cold. Snow possible in those areas.
