Leaving Saturday for Arizona for 7 days. Here is the itinerary so far. Any suggestions, comments are helpful.
Saturday Arrive Mesa 3:30 p.m. drive to Sedona
Sunday - Sedona. Booked hot air balloon ride early a.m. Hiking, explore area.
Monday - Sedona. Would like to do Oak Canyon drive. Stop to hike
Tuesday - check out Sedona in a.m. head to Grand Canyon
Tuesday-Wednesday - Booked a room at Grand Canyon Yavapai Lodge for 2 nights. See sunset, sunrise? Dinner at El Tovar one night if we can get reservations.
Here is were I am a little lost. Was thinking about heading up to Page/Lake Powell area after we check out Thursday, part of Friday to do some kayaking. We need to get back to Mesa Friday night as our flight is early Saturday morning. We don't care what time we get back to Mesa as we are staying in an airport hotel and leaving. I know it's a least 5 hours back. Sightseeing on the way back is fine.... I am wondering if this is too much for too little time. Thanks for any assistance.

Are you flying into the big Phoenix Skyharbor (PHX) airport or into little Phoenix-Mesa (AZA)?
Phoenix-Mesa.
Just my personal opinion, but if you don't plan to do even a hike part way down into the canyon, you could cut your stay there to one night if you'll be arriving early enough on Tuesday. You could see a sunset, and hit some of the overlooks, then get up early to see the sunrise, go to more of the overlooks and head for Page. This would give you a full day in Pager area.
